What is an AI intern, and how is it different from ChatGPT or an AI agent?
An AI intern isn't a chatbot you prompt or a one-shot agent you assign a task to - it's a real AI employee with a defined role, persistent memory, and the judgment to own a function end-to-end. Where ChatGPT waits for instructions and generic agents execute single tasks, an Intern knows your workflows, follows your team's playbooks, collaborates inside your existing tools (Slack, Notion, Gmail, Linear), and improves over time. Think of it less like 'AI software' and more like a junior hire who never sleeps, never forgets context, and is ready to work on day one.
Why are we giving our Autonomous Intern to the market now?
They get fired? No. We didn't build these interns in a lab, they were forged inside Autonomous, working with our product, growth, and ops teams for months. Every workflow, judgment call, and 'how we actually do things here' pattern was battle-tested against real deadlines, real customers, and real mistakes. That's exactly why we're sharing them. We realized the hard-won knowledge baked into these interns is too valuable to keep locked inside one company. If it made our team faster, it can make yours faster too.
What roles can I hire an AI intern for, and what tasks can they actually do?
Our interns cover the roles that scaling teams burn out on first: growth marketing, content & SEO, customer support, sales development, research, and ops. Each intern comes pre-trained with the skills and judgment needed for their role. You don't write prompts, you assign work.
How do I onboard an AI intern, and how long until it's actually productive?
Onboarding takes minutes, not months. You connect your tools (Slack, Gmail, Notion, your CRM), share your brand context and any SOPs you have, and your intern is working before lunch. From there, they continue learning your specific preferences, decisions, and tone over time, getting sharper with every task without you having to retrain anything.
Will an AI intern replace my team, or work alongside them?
Alongside, every time. The data is clear: companies investing in AI are growing headcount, not shrinking it - because the bottleneck on most teams isn't people, it's the boring, repetitive 20+ hours/week of work that drowns your best talent before they can do their best work. The teams winning with AI right now aren't the ones replacing people. They're the ones giving every person a tireless junior who handles the grunt work.
How is my data handled, and who can see what my intern is working on?
Your intern operates inside your workspace, not ours. Every document, message, and file your intern touches stays under your account's permissions — the same access controls you already use for Slack, Notion, or Gmail apply automatically. We don't train on your data, we don't share it with third parties, and your intern's memory is scoped to your team only. Conversations and task history are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can wipe an intern's memory or revoke access at any time from your admin panel.
What happens to my data if I stop using a specific intern or cancel my plan?
You own your data, always. If you pause or cancel an intern, your files and workspace access are released back to you immediately. We do retain a distilled experience log (think of it as the intern's learned playbook — what worked, what didn't, how your team operates) so that if you ever bring the intern back, it picks up where it left off instead of starting from zero. Raw conversations and documents aren't kept; only the structured learnings your intern built up on the job.
